The Royal Golf Club of Belgium - "Royal" since its foundation in 1906 on the direction of King Leopold II - is laid on land belonging to the "Royal Donation". The Château-ferme of Ravenstein owes its name to its first owner, Philippe de Cleves, Squire of Ravenstein. The Manor Farm of Ravenstein, which has become the Club House, has its own historical background which started in 1460 with Louis The Good, Duke of Burgundy. Designed in 1905 by the famous golf architect Tom Simpson, Ravenstein is a challenging a beautiful course. Mature oaks, birch and blue cedar along with the animal display of colour of the rhododendions give an impressive back drop to this well laid out gem.
