Turkey has rarely been promoted as a golfing destination of Europe but in recent years, and having been discovered by both Scandinavian and German golfers, many new Golf Courses in Turkey are being developed to welcome international travelers. At present golf in Turkey is mainly confined to the exclusive resort of Belek, just 30 minutes from Antalya Airport in the middle of Turkey’s southern coast. With five full courses, two with 27 holes, and a further six under development you can be guaranteed a range of challenging rounds. Belek is a purpose built resort which includes everything you would expect to find and boasting a selection of five star hotels located on the beach. Among the most recent to open its doors is the Kempinski Hotel The Dome which first welcomed guests in 2006. Alternatively if you are city based then the Klassis Golf & Country Club in Istanbul is well worth a visit. With an 18 hole, 5850 meter course designed by Tony Jacklin this is a challenge not to be missed. The club also boasts a 9 hole Academy course, driving range and putting green. Golf in Turkey is developing and developing fast with new courses planned for Istanbul, Ankara, Muğla and the popular holiday resort of Marmaris.
