Country Club Course
The course lies adjacent to the beach onto which the Indian Ocean gently pushes its waves, separated only by a freeway linking the Northern suburbs with the city. It has a merry mix of tall trees, thick bush, severe slopes, undulating fairways that sometimes resemble rolling waves, and some very clever tee positions, with the ever penalising bunkers lying in wait. Rated as the second best course in the Southern Hemisphere by Golf International's panel, there is little argument to this definitive statement.Beachwood Course
Beachwood occupies a rather special strip of land in Durban North. It was built in indigenous woodland by Percy Gilbert Stiebel around a mangrove swamp, a narrow barrier between the Indian Ocean and houses that flow along a ridge overlooking the sea. It was thought ideal at the time for a golf course. As a result, the mangrove swamp is now believed to be one of the last of its kind on the KwaZulu-Natal coast.
Redesigned by the Gary Player Group in 1995 after the two clubs had amalgamated, it has grown in stature in recent years as more golfers discover just how challenging and interesting it is to play there.
